I am searching for the address/location of my grandfather's farm. It was sold around 1974. My mother and her siblings have all passed except for Eugene Buckwald and I don't know how reach him. We will be visiting Tampico in May and would love to at least see where I loved spending 2 summers as a kid. Thanks for any help!

Hi, There is a 1936 Plat map on this site: 1936 Plat Map This map shows the following: HUME 1936 Wheelock: L. A. Wheelock, 160a, NW corner of Section 33 C. M. Wheelock, 120a SW corner of Section 33 C. L. Wheelock, 120a Center of Section 33
1940 census says he rented his home, occupation: farmer. I am not sure if C. M. or C. L. is your grandfather. Does this help? Denise

CL was my grandfather. Eugene's correct last name is Brinkman. Are there any later plat maps? I was told Eugene was deeded an acre by the road. Thanks!

I just sent you an email from tampicohistoricalsociety@gmail.com with another plat map. I also drove past the lots yesterday. The middle lot is not the original farm house, but that may be the one that was destroyed by fire in 1940 per the article in Gazette.

Do you know what year Eugene would have been deeded the land. We have several plat maps at the historical society. You can also trace land records at the Morrison County Court house. If you are planning on visiting in May, that would be a good thing to plan on doing while you are here.

If you open this album (click on photo), you will see the Directory listing for a Wm. Brinkman, son of Eugene, in the 1982 plat book. He is renting on section 25, house 1. Go to the map photo to see a close up of where his property is located. Then go to the full view photo to see where it is in relation to section 33. Also note in Section 33, there is a 1 acre parcel in section 33 by the road, at that time occupied by Larry W Cantrell. Perhaps that is the property he had. You will need to track it at the Morrison Court house, since I have checked all of the plat books we have and do not see him listed. Here is what I found: 1936 - Sect. 33 HUME L A Wheelock, 160a C. L. Wheelock, 120a W. H. Pearson, 80 C. W. Wheelock, 120a V.E. Pearon Wm. Pearson, 40a
1954 - T20-21N Hume/Lyndon N-R 6E Section 33: Cecil Wheelock, 160a John Cordes, etux, 120a Henry & Melvin Pearson & P. Keefer 80a Chas. Wheelock, 120a Victor Pearson, 80a Herbert Lee, Sr., 80a
WHITESIDE COUNTY FARM BUREAU 1982 - Sect. 33 Eugene D Bollman, 159a H. Hammelright,16a Larry Ebersohl, 144a Curtis D Varney, 113a [Chas. Wheelock in 1982 Plat book pub. by Tital Atlas Co.) House on 6a - no name listed (not by road) Ken Pearson, 80a Herbert Lee, 80a We had a few other plat books, but they were consistent with above info.
