Although Booth is a prominent name in this commmunity, I think your Booths are from Virginia. I show James Harrison Booth a son of William and Deborah (Hart) Booth as born June 27 1823 and died March 27 1884. Married first to Susanna Rexroad and later to Cinderella Burton in 1857. If you use Google as a search engine you will find him..

James Harrison Booth, I have his geneology back to 1114, but was looking for more local information, and possibly a picture of his grave. Thanks for the followup.

I show that in 1867 an H.Booth was a landowner in Fairfiled Township, Bureau County, located near Yorktown Grove about three miles south of Yorktown. I have in my possesion a number of item of correspondence to the family from 1884-1894 all of which went through the Yorktown Post office then located in the General Store. They are addressed to: H.A. Booth, Vina R. Booth, Mrs. Mary Booth, and Mrs. L. Booth. Mostly they are of a business and Merchandising nature, much of it jewelry, leading me to believe he either ran or worked in a store. I am sure this Vina or L Booth is the Levenia Booth who is featured in the 1975 Centennial Book.

I'm trying to trace two sides of my family that contained different Booth families. Does anyone know the parents of either of my relatives? 1. Ann Booth Born 11/12/1821 in Wales & Married Tomas Swansborough in Trevethin, Monmouthshire, Wales 12/25/1843 and had 7 children born in Trevethin Wales, Pennsylvania, two in Summit County, Ohio, and the last three in Placerville, California. 2. Shannon Baily Booth 1855-1905 married Laura Bell Jennings in Decatur County Iowa 6/29/1877. Died in Marysville, California.
Thanks for any help.

Hello- I have a small article that my grandmother had saved about Lovina Booth when she celebrated her 89th birthday. I assume that it must have come from the Tampico Tornado. I do not know if she saved just because she was interested in it or if Lovina Booth might be shirttail relation. I would be happy to share it with anyone that wants a copy. Debra Peterson

I am a decendant of Hart Booth, James Harrison Booth's brother. I would be interested in the family genaeology back as far as you have it. Hart Booth moved to Logansport, Indiana where he married Nancy Caldwell, and their son, Burl W. Booth, was my great-grandfather. I am interested in any family history related to the Booth family.

Thank you for posting the photo and information on Lovina (Mrs Horace) Booth. In the Centennial book she is named Lorrina, which had led me to believe her not to be Lovina; wife of Horace. I now believe that naming to have been in error. Horace and Alden Booth, who I don't know to be related, were early settlers of Fairfield Township. I have not seen how either were related to James Harrison Booth of Virginia. Horace A. Booth lived near Yorktown in the 1880's and may have a farmer and businessman. Alden Booth of near Thomas, was said to have come from New York. What did Horace Booth do to acquire the fortune that was given by Lovina? Further, I find a Grace Darlene Booth, born June 1st 1874 in Yorktown, as a child of Horace and Lovina. What became of her? Any help appreciated..

Richard, Glad the pictures were helpful. I found them in a "McKenzie" file! I am slowly trying to go through the files at the museum, sort them, put them in appropriate file folders and post the new finds to the site. Who knows what I'll find next! I'm glad you posted - maybe someone out there can help answer your questions faster than I will find all the corresponding info.
I'm sure you noted that I have transcribed several Booth bio's from two different counties. I just received four new Whiteside and Bureau county "history" books with bio's and hope to get them posted as well. Time? Where does it go????

Somewhere along the way I picked up that Malinda BOOTH wife of John WILSON (as noted above in this BOOTH sequence) was also married to Samuel EMMONS. Malinda and Samuel had 2 children: Edward and Nancy Jane EMMONS.
John WILSON and Malinda BOOTH had one son John R WILSON.
Maybe someone can help sort out who she married first, Samuel EMMONS or John WILSON.
From the Tampico Tornado:
Tampico Tornado June 15, 1906 His Brother Is Dead Mr. and Mrs. Ed. EMMONS were in Rock Falls Monday where they attended the funeral services of Mr. EMMONS half brother, Dr. John R. WILSON who died of heart trouble last week Friday at his home in Minneiska, Minnesota. The deceased was seventy four years old and formerly an inhabitant of Tampico and vicinity. He owned the Emmitt CUMMINGS farm and alos built the house occupied by George JACKSON. He moved away from here about thirty years ago.

Hello Everyone,
I am looking for the Parents of Frederick H Dyer who was born in Cleveland Ohio on March 7, 1871. I have no dates on his Parents but their names were Willam Dyer and Margaret Dyer. Margarets maiden name was Kennedy. Frederick Dyer when grown up came to live in Detroit where he raised a family. He had a set of twins names Marvin and Lester and another son named Frederick.
Thank-you Peggy Smith (Dyer)

Richard, I have added to the Booth Family Photo Album on site. There is a news clipping on Lovina's 91st birthday. The article also gives a bio on her. In the article it says Horace and Lovina had only one child, a son, Glee Horace, who died at the age of 5 1/2. Perhaps the article can help fill in missing info. Please note, it is subject to error, as is any newspaper article. It states she was born 1850. We have several photos of her and on the back of one, it says she was born 1860. They also listed her mother's maiden name as her maiden name - I am assuming it was a typo and not intentional. ---------- Denise, Tampico Area Historical Society

Dear Peggy, I have two questions for you. 1. What is your Dyer connection to Whiteside or Bureau County?
2. Why have you posted in the BOOTH msg board? Is there a connection to a BOOTH family?
Thanks, Denise

I have seen where Grace Darlene Booth was said to be the daughter of Horace Booth and Josephine Sheldon. She did live with the Horace A Booth family of Yorktown. I have letters to Horace, Vina, and Grace, 1880-1890 as a grouping. ................ On another subject, My gr-gr grandmother was Katherine Dyer of Lewis County Kentucky. In Kentucky the name is pronounced as Dir, not Die-er as we pronounce it here. I have wondered if the Dir families of Fairfield could have been Dyers.. Anyone interested in Dyer should search the "Stamper Family Project" website. Go to "everything Stamper" and click on James Logan. You will find lots of Dyers.. Any further comments on Dyers, let's start a new message..
