OLIVER VIOLET
BYRON - Oliver W. Violet, 83,of 811 W. Second in Byron, died Friday, July 30, 1999, at the Neighbors Nursing Homein Byron. he was a machinist at Sundstrand Corporation in Rockford.

Mr. Violet was born Nov. 29, 1915 in Sterling to Harrie K.and Cecil R.(Conkling) Violet. He married Veronica M. Cooper on June 11, 1939 in Clinton, Iowa. She preceded him in death on April 4, 1985.

He was also preceded in death by one daughter and one brother.

He graduated from Rock Falls High School in 1932 and was a memb er of the Moose and the UAW Union Local 592 Region 4.

Survivors include three sons, Douglas (Pam) Violet of Mt. Morris, Donald (June) Violet of Shirland and Kevin Violet of Butterfield, Calif; two daughters, Jane Patton of Prophetsown and Julie Thennis of Rockford, and one brother, Lou (Georgia) Violet of Cornell, Wisc.; one sister, Blanche Nix of Van Buren, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Finch Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m.Monday at Riverside Cemetery in Prophetstown. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at the Funeral Home.

A memorial has been established.

OBITUARIES
Veronica M. Violet
BYRON - Mrs. Veronica M. Violet, 66, Byron, died Thursday at Rockford Memorial Hospital.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Schilling-Reedy Funeral Home, Erie. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Prophetstown. Visitation will be Sunday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

A memorial has been established.

She was born Oct. 27, 1918 in Erie the daughter of Edward and Bessie (Kennedy) Cooper. She married Oliver (Red) Violet June 11, 1939 in Clinton, Iowa. She was a member of the Women's Club of Byron and also the Women of the Moose Lodge 1551, Mt. Morris.

She is survived by her husband, Oliver, Byron; three daughters, Judy Herzfeldt, Cordova; Mrs. Henry (Jane) Patton, West Memphis, Ark., and Mrs. Bud (Julie) Bradley, Tampico; three sons, Doug, Mt. Morris; Don, Byron, and Devin, Spring, Texas; 19 grandchildren; one great grandchild; her mother, Mrs. Bessie Cooper, Erie, and two brothers, Kenneth Cooper, Fenton, and Donald Cooper, Lyndon.

She was preceded in death by her father and one sister.
