The Tampico Area Historical Society encompasses parts of Whiteside County and Bureau County in Illinois. Focus is on Tampico, Hume Twp., Hahnaman/Deer Grove, & Prophetstown in Whiteside County & Yorktown & Thomas in Bureau County.

Thanks to a good internet friend, I have learned that my great-grandmother, Mary KENNEDY GAVETTE, remarried to a JACOBS and ended up in Mt. Pleasant, Whiteside Co., IL. My father, Joseph Heath GAVETTE, Jr. married Ida Carrie TRAUGER from Morrison, Whiteside Co., IL. His sister, Carrie, married an ALDRICH, also of Mt. Pleasant. However, since the marriage was in Illinois, and my great-grandfather died in NY, I'm curious as to when Mary and the two children went to Illinois. Since there is one source that indicates a Joseph and Carrie WRIGHT as belonging to Joseph and Mary Gavette, I'm wondering if she might have come to Illinois with either a WRIGHT or JAMES family. Three WRIGHTS married into the Gavette family in NY; and at least one JAMES/JANUS. I have information on most of the names listed except WRIGHT in Illinois. I'm looking for stories, anecdotes, etc. for any of the families, and especially more information on any WRIGHT or JAMES/JANUS families. Thank you.
