If Searching Tampico relatives in Dakota Territory
The Tampico Area Historical Society encompasses parts of Whiteside County and Bureau County in Illinois. Focus is on Tampico, Hume Twp., Hahnaman/Deer Grove, & Prophetstown in Whiteside County & Yorktown & Thomas in Bureau County.

I am reseaching my relatives the HIXSON's of which some moved off to the dakota's in 1880's. I am currently searching through a microfilm roll for them, from the Brown County Sentinel from Columbia, S. Dakota in 1883-1889. I know that there were dozens and dozens of familys from Tampico who moved there during that time period. For the time that I have searched so far, I have noticed a few names that might have come from or had relatives in the tampico and Whiteside areas.
A few family surnames so far that I recognize from the Tampico and Whiteside areas are,
J. W. DENNISON, Herbert W. DENNISON, Almon FOY, Ashbel H. Morse, Lewis & George LYON, William Parent from Tampico, Thomas J. QUIGG(have seen on this site)George C. LASHER, Redington OLMSTEAD, James VARIAN, D. C. Mckenzie and Mr. and Mrs E. G. Baldwin.
These are a few of the names that may have come from Tampico and Whiteside. If you would like me to keep an eye open for a specfic name let me know here in this thread. I have a limited time with interlibrary loan.

Wow! That is really nice of you to offer to do that. I hope people respond to your generous offer.
Would it be possible to post the m/f #'s as a reference for other researchers that may want to order the films? Are these from the LDS-FHL or another source?

Which HIXSON's are you searching for? I have quite a few newspaper articles from the Tampico Tornado.
Also, I certainly would be interested in any article you find on:
HIXSONs, J. W. DENNISON, Herbert W. DENNISON, Almon FOY, Ashbel H. Morse, Lewis & George LYON, William PARENT, Thomas J. QUIGG, George C. LASHER, Redington OLMSTEAD, James VARIAN, D. C. Mckenzie and Mr. and Mrs E. G. BALDWIN (is it possible this is Mrs. O.G. BALDWIN - a relative of Ronald REAGAN?)
