I received an email requesting the Stickel surname listed in the Tampico Memorial Cemetery be corrected. However, I accidentally deleted the email with all the pertenent info. When I contacted the Cemetery Secretary, she responded as follows: "Anita Stickel tells me there are definitely 2 different spellings for that name and they "ARE NOT" related to the Stickle branch"
Would the person that originally emailed me please contact me again? Also, anyone having any other information regarding these listings please contact me? Thank you. ---------- Denise Family History Coordinator Tampico Area Historical Society

I'm not sure if the STICKEL/STICKLE spelling is accurate either in my transcription of the article or in The Tornado's original article as both are known to have typo's (note the 1896 article mentioning T.J. STICKEL and the 1904 article that mentions T.J. STICKLE): - Les

July 19, 1917 NEW DRAFT NUMBERS The Tornado publishes this week the names and draft registration numbers for Tampico and vicinity. Every man is presumed to know his number and will be held personally responsible to ascertain if his number is drawn in the draft. There are 4000 units in the country and numbers from 1 to 4000 will be put in capsules and then drawn from a glass globe. This means when one number is drawn that 4000 men will be chosen. About an average of 250 will be taken from each unit. There were 3216 numbers in Whiteside county. The list follows. Keep the paper and watch your numer when the draft numbers are announced. Tampico 1676 Wm. SCHULTZ ...... (portion of list 1677-1814 removed for this post) 1815 Ralph E. STICKEL ...... (1816-1830 also removed) 1831 Geo. W. STICKEL
December 25, 1919 C.D. LOVE completed the filling of his ice house last Sunday noon and says that he has the finext "crop" of ice this year that he has ever put up. It was 9 inches thich when he began to put it up and it grew until it was 13 inches. The cakes are clear, solid, without any air bubbles and spaces and of most excellent quality free from all dirt. Wm. FOY and his helper, G. STICKEL made good records in hauling the ice from the canal to the ice house. They hauled fourteen and fifteen loades on the auto trucks every day, making some 100 miles daily back and forth with some twenty cakes to a load and the load weighing 3500 to 3800 pounds.
