TAHS Website Updates for February 2007
TAHS Website Updates for February 2007
Mar 2, 2007
Wow! What an amazing month we have had! So many wonderful contributions - Melva Taylor has been a busy little beaver transcribing the Sterling Gazette and sharing the obits & marriages with our site. Lynn & Craig Kolb have also submitted more obits and anniversaries for the their Kolb/Denison/Dow lines. Jack Pritchard has been posting a wonderful history on Dr. Harry TERRY which incorporates so many family names. He has also submitted two family history charts - one for James DAVIS and the other on Dr. Reuben DAVIS. How many know who the author by the name of "Hickory Switch" is? I created a "Wish List" to acquire achive-safe storage materials for our Tampico Tornado newspapers as well as some very-needed items. Well, who would have thought . . . the response has been unbelievable! The Tampico Lions Club donated $1000 towards our efforts, Les Niemi (a long-time friend of the TAHS) has donated a brand new printer/scanner/copier AND a digital camera! Andy Hinton will be home on leave in March, bringing us a microfisch/film reader. The generosity of these folks is just so overwhelming to me. THANK YOU just doesn't seem to be an adequate response. That's our history they are helping to preserve. Anyone that has gleened genealogical information from our website or the TAHS museum owes these fine folks a BIG thank you! Activity has been great on the Message Board. I am so grateful to all of you who take the time to respond to those searching their roots. Thank you! Here's the latest entries for the month of February. If you are local, please contact me regarding the Memorial Cemetery Walk at the TMC and St. Mary's. If you would like to do a brief presentation on anyone buried in these cemeteries or know of someone who would, please! Contact me at your earliest convenience.
