NEW ENTRIES FOR JUNE 2007 ANNOUNCEMENTS: October, 2007 marks the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Hennepin Canal. On September 8, many of the area towns will be participating in the Centennial Celebration. I have added some of the history on the Canal and it's potential impact on Tampico as reported in the Tampico Tornado, 1907. See our Hennepin Canal Photo Album http://www.tampicohistoricalsociety.citymax.com/Hennepin_Canal_Photos.html Stay tuned for details on Tampico’s participation in this historic event! Tampico Area Historical Society (TAHS) is located in Tampico, Whiteside County, Illinois. It is the birthplace of Ronald Reagan and Admiral Joseph M. Reeves. The society’s archives include Thomas and Yorktown in Bureau County, as well as historical data, documents and artifacts for Tampico, Hahnaman/Deer Grove, and Hume Township in Whiteside County. Their website also includes information and photos for surrounding areas such as Prophetstown. Please feel free to post any queries or comments on our very active Message Board. It is monitored on a daily basis. http://www.tampicohistoricalsociety.citymax.com/Message_Board.html What EVER would I do (or all of us) without our little “helper bees.” This was a difficult month for me personally, but I am so very grateful for Melva, Becky and Deb’s help this month. We’ll be able to start off July’s entries with a bang, thanks to their great generosity and willingness to share with our site members. BIG HUGS to these special ladies! Hope you’ll drop in for a visit soon. It is my pleasure to help you in any way I am able.
