RONALD REAGAN STATUE - The Tampico Historical Society continues to raise funds for the completion of the Ronald Reagan statue to be erected in the Reagan Park. The cannon is already in place. The statue of Ronald Reagan as a young boy is still standing in the artist's living room. This life-sized statue is just waiting for the money to complete the bronzing process. Please view the photo album of the lonely cannon, sample bricks & pavers: https://picasaweb.google.com/TampicoHistoricalSociety/REAGANSTATUE?authuser=0&feat=directlink

There is still time to purchase a memorial brick for $100 or a paver for $1,000. These bricks will line the walkway leading to the statue. Become a part of history - memorialize your family or loved ones forever on a path that leads to this historic statue. Questions? Contact Shirley Lester, 815-499-7447 or Terry Gaskill, 815-535-3665

REAGAN BIRTHPLACE & MUSEUM - Joan continues to ask for more help at the Birthplace during the week to guide the visitors. The daily hours will continue through the end of October. The Birthplace will be opened anytime after that by calling for an appointment. So far this year there have been over 1800 visitors from 45 states and 23 countries. If your group has not taken the tour of the Ronald Reagan Birthplace yet, it is definitely something to schedule asap. Contact your school principals or history teachers and ask if the school has taken the tour of the Birthplace of the only President born in Illinois? If not, encourage them to do so!

Has your favorite group - Historical/Genealogical Society, Chamber of Commerce, church, library, social group, etc. visited the Birthplace? Consider making it a day-trip. Visit the Birthplace in the a.m. and then have lunch and a piece of home-made pie at the Dutch Diner, where the president ate when he visited Tampico. (Note: The Diner is closed on Mondays). Visit the R&B Dutch Diner on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/DutchDiner
Contact Birthplace Manager, Joan Johnson, reaganbirthplace@thewisp.net; 815-622-8705.

CHRISTMAS IN THE COUNTRY - Dec. 3, 2011
Santa will visit again this year. Tampico Women's Club will assist Santa in handing out candies. More details will follow later. Due to poor attendance, there will be no Royalty or House Lighting Contest this year unless we receive some new ideas. If you have an idea on fun and fair ways of selecting the Royalty for this year, or other activities to offer, please contact Joan Johnson, 815-622-8705.

MAIN STREET
Tampico's Main Street is now beautifully illuminated with new street lights. Their antique style blends nicely with the historic buildings that are listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. Photo: https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/s7IWIZ4SsX2NX8Xp9wtfaQ?feat=directlink
